WOLVERINES LOSE TO BEARS 28-12 -04/26/06
By Kevin Nielsen, Herald Journal

(Logan, UT)
The Cache Valley Bears played three good quarters of football to win 28-12 against the Draper-based Utah Wolverines Saturday night at Logan High’s Crimson Field. In their first-ever home game, the Bears got behind after a bad snap on a punt that turned into a safety and, subsequently, a 38-yard field goal by the Wolverines. WOLVERINES MAKING PREPARATIONS FOR 2007
(Salt Lake City, UT)
Members of the Wolverines are spending the off-season by participating in various activities including having a team participate in the Utah Football Association's Flag Football league.  This gives our offensive and defensive skills positions an opportunity to workout together as a team in the off-season as well as help them stay in shape and refine their skills for the 2007 season.

On the player front, the Wolverines have had several new additions signing up for the 2007 season as well as some major financial backing this season.  No more carpooling to out of state games for the Wolverines this season.  Also look for the Wolverines to make significant contributions to local charities. The Wolverines are also working to have their games broadcast this season on Comcast.  The Wolverines are still looking for great players to help the team in 2007. Please click here to register with the Wolverines.

As for the team, the Wolverines look to return their entire starting lineups except, ALL RMFL First Team DE Andrew Butler who has decided to retire, also announcing his retirement is Wolverine founder and SS Jeremy Smith.  These will be hard shoes to fill for the Wolverines as these two guys are irreplaceable.  The Wolverines look to bounce back from a disappointing 2006 season and expect to be in the hunt for the RMFL title in 2007.  One of the many fine acquisitions for the Wolverines will be former Nemesis RB Marvell Smith.  Look for Marvell to don the Green and Silver this season not having to worry about running a team, he only has to worry about running through defenses.  Marvell and a few other Nemesis players will be joining the Wolverines this season as well as many other great athletes from all over the state.

WOLVERINES MATT SHODA NAMED RMFL DEFENSIVE MVP
(Tremonton, UT)
The RMFL All-Star game and final league meeting has passed, the results of that meeting and final game of the 2006 brought with it quite notable recognition to the Wolverines players who were named to the ALL-RMFL teams. The most notable award of the season came to one player on the Wolverines who stood out above the rest. Wearing the #1 jersey since his debut with the Wolverines, Line backer Matt Shoda has been named the Most Valuable Defensive Player in the RMFL. Congratulations Matt as all of your hard work and determination has paid off. There is not a more feared defensive player in this league, and no one more deserving of such recognition.

Not only was Matt named the RMFL's Defensive MVP he was also named AAA South Division MVP, also named to the ALL-RMFL first team along with teamates Andrew Butler and James Neslen. Finally Mr. Shoda finsihed the Weekend off being crowned RMFL Strongest Man for the second year in a row after bench pressing 225lbs for 44 reps!!!

Ryan Seely was another Wolverine who help lead the South All-Star Team to a 37-0 victory over the north with 4 catches for 56-yards and 1 TD. He was the second leading receiver for the team. (All Star Recap Here)

Kyle Ashby was a close second to the Rhino-Raiders Damon Greenberry as the AAA south's Offensive MVP. Ed Cerise was second in the voting as GM of the year finishing behind Madison's Jason Stucki. Way to represent Wolverines, we look forward to a successful 2007 season. Wolverines that were named to the All-RMFL teams were:

WOLVERINES END SEASON WITH 7- 6 LOSS TO BEARS
(Draper, UT)
The Wolverines ended the 2006 season with a close 7 - 6 home loss to the Cache Valley Bears. The Wolverines needed a win at home to continue on to the post season, but much like the rest of the Wolverines season, the team just fell a bit short on their goal. (Game Summary to be updated later).

The Wolverines will now prepare for the 2007 after what has to be described as a disappointing 2006 campaign after finishing the RMFL regular season with a record of 3-6 and missing the playoffs for the first time in their existence. In spite of the Wins and Losses being off cue for the Wolverines, the players that finished the season showed true heart and gave 100%. Wolverine General Manager Ed Cerise would like to thank everyone of the Wolverine Team Members this season as well as their families who sacrificed the past 6-months, as well as our great fans. The Wolverine Coaching Staff and Management will learn from this season and improve to make the 2007 season one of championship caliber.

RHINOS DEFEAT WOLVERINES 35-6
(Draper, UT)
Damon Greenberry caught 7 passes for 192 yards and 3 touchdowns, establishing a new RMFL scoring record in the process, as the Ogden Rhino-Raiders exploded for 28 third quarter points to turn a tight 7-3 halftime contest into a 35-6 runaway victory to clinch the #1 seed in the 2006 RMFL playoffs. WOLVERINES TAKE DOWN NEMESIS 57-0
(Orem, UT)
The Wolverines traveled to Orem, UT to take on their division rivals Nemesis. On a day when the heat was a factor, the Wolverines were finally able to win outright versus the Nemesis. In the past this match up has always come down to the last play of the game, while the home team has never one. Well the Wolverines were in control of this game from the opening kickoff. The first half the Wolverines managed 16 points, while holding the Nemesis scoreless. The second half the Wolverines erupted with 41 second half points while the defense kept the Nemesis off the board.

In the three Wolverines wins this season the Defense has not allowed a single point. With the win the Wolverines are going to need help from some Idaho teams to make it to the playoffs. One tradition that didn't go away between the Wolverines and Nemesis, the home team has still not won a contest yet. (Click Here for RMFL Game Summary)

WOLVERINES VISIT RIVAL NEMESIS IN OREM THIS SATURDAY
(SLC, UT)
The Wolverines will travel to take on the Nemesis this Saturday the 3rd of June with Kick off scheduled for 3pm at Orem High School. This is a very important game for both teams as this game will put one of these teams out of playoff contention. With a win, the Wolverines have a slight chance of making the playoffs even if they were to lose their last two games. In order for the Nemesis to make the playoffs they would have to win their final two games of the season including this one. This will be hard fought battle where both teams will have to leave it on the field in order to move into the post season.

Keep in mind that the series bewteen these two team over the past three seasons has come down to the last plays of the games with the visiting team winning every contest. The Wolverines have never won against the Nemesis at home, and the Nemesis have never beat the Wolverines at their home. With so much on the line for these two teams this could be the game of the year in the RMFL. Get there early for a hard hitting, action packed game.

WOLVERINES DEFEAT HEAT 16-0, PLAYOFFS STAY ALIVE
(SLC, UT)
The Utah Wolverines used an unknown third string quarterback and a dominating defense to shut out the Utah Heat for the second time this season, 16-0 in Tooele, Utah to keep their play-off hopes alive and put a speed bump in front of the Heat’s two-game winning streak. TJ Stokes stepped in at quarterback, replacing Steve Wealty and Joey Collins and… and stepped UP, passing for 204 yards, completing 14 of 21 passes, including two touchdown passes to James Neslen to lead the Wolverines over the Utah Heat, who’s defense had been dominating of late.  Stokes, a wide receiver by trade, found fellow wide receiver Neslen, 7 times in all for 136 yards and the two big scoring plays. WOLVERINES GAME vs. HEAT 6pm THIS SATURDAY
(SLC, UT)
The Wolverines travel this week to Tooele High School to take on the Utah Heat. This will be the second meeting between these two teams this season with the Wolverines previously winning 17-0 in the season opener. Since that time these two teams have moved in opposite directions as the Wolverines have gone on to lose 4-straight while the Heat have won their last two. This is a critical game for both teams, the Wolverines need to show up and play hard and have fun. As the Heat stated on their website, this game is going to be won with heart.

WOLVERINES LOSE 35 - 6 TO RMFL CHAMP RHINOS
(OGDEN, UT)
Like two great prize-fighters, the Utah Wolverines went “toe-to-toe” with the defending RMFL Champion, Rhino-Raiders. And for almost 3 full quarters, the Wolverines and Rhino-Raider offense could each count one touchdown a piece to their scoring log. An amazing Tracy Ita interception return in which he shuffled to Jared Harward near the end counted as the only other score, a play that snuffed what would have been a scoring opportunity for the Wolverines. But the defending champion prevailed with 3 touchdowns in the final 15+ minutes to run away with a 35-6 victory and remain undefeated in 2006. (Continued)

MAY 11, 2006
WOLVERINES TO TAKE ON UNDEFEATED RMFL CHAMPS
(SLC, UT)
The Wolverines travel to Ogden this week to take on 2-time RMFL Champions RHINO-RAIDERS. The Rhinos are sporting an unheard of 73 game league winning streak that also dates back prior to the RMFL/UFL merger. The Rhino's streak is unheard of in any league from professional to highschool, and they won't take the Wolverines lightly this week.

The Wolverines come into this game after losing three in a row and now have to look at the possibility of not making the RMFL playoffs for the first time in their existence. With a loss against the Raiders the Wolverines would need everything to fall into place to make the playoffs. The Wolverines are looking to get back on track to their winning ways with a win against the heavily favored Rhino-Raiders. For the Wolverines to accomplish this it will take a perfect game played for a full four quarters as well as a little luck. Many are predicting the Wolverines to be blownout. It's now do or die time for the Wolverines, this game will serve as a turning point, as the Wolverines will show if they are indeed AAA worthy or if they should start saving the frequent flier miles for AA. Game time is at 7pm at Ben Lomond High School in Ogden.

NEMESIS SUFFER UNFORTUNATE LOSS
(SLC, UT)
The Salt Lake Nemesis has experienced an unfortunate loss this week as Defensive Lineman #97 John Gale passed away unexpectedly. The Wolverines would like to offer our condolences to the Gale and Nemesis families in this time of loss. The Wolverines would like to honor John prior to our game this Saturday by saying a prayer for the Gale Family. If anyone would like to contribute to flowers in John's memory please contact the Nemesis at saltlakenemesis@yahoo.com

WOLVERINES TRAVEL TO IDAHO FALLS THIS SATURDAY
(Draper, UT)
This week the Wolverines travel to Idaho Falls to take on the High Powered Mustangs at Bonneville High School in Idaho Falls. The Mustangs are former RMFL Champions and look to regain their winning ways running a new high powered spread offense. With stars like Donovan Ard QB, Travis Boden RB, Scott Brown WR, and others the Mustangs will take on the Wolverines in only their second match up ever. The first meeting between these teams was in 2004 in the Semi-finals where the Mustangs knocked off the Wolverines in a game dominated by Defense.

The Wolverines after losing two in a row for the first time in their existense have put more emphasis and focus on the team. The Wolverines will not go down this week without a fight. Look for another hard fought game since the 2004 season as the Wolverines travel to Idaho Falls. Team Headquarters will be the Cotton Tree Inn.

story by RMFL

(Draper, UT)
The Wolverines will be playing their arch Nemesis (pun intended) as they host the Salt Lake Nemesis at Soaring Eagle Statdium this Saturday the 29th of April. Kick of slated for 1:00pm. The Wolverines are coming off their first loss of the season to the Cache Valley Bears and are looking to rebound with a win this weekend.

The Nemesis are also coming off a heartbreaking loss losing a close game to the Pocatello Predators. Right now the Nemesis are 0-2 and are hungry for their first win. They have beaten the Wolverines once before in a playoff win last season at Soaring Eagle Stadium.

This is going to be a close matchup between talented teams who know each other very well. With midseason drawing near the Nemesis need a win, while the Wolverines can't afford another loss. Get to the game early as this one is going to be loaded with excitement from the opening kickoff

WOLVERINES vs. BEARS GAME PREVIEW
The Wolverines will be on the road this week as they visit the expansion Cache Valley Bears. Although the Bears are an expansion team they have made their mark immediately in the RMFL by being ranked number 1 by RMFL Commissioner Jared Neumeier in his preseason AAA Rankings. The Bears return home for this game after a long road win against the Boise Roughriders 26-14. The Wolverines also come into this game after a home win against the Utah Heat 14-0. Both teams are currently 1-0 on the season and the winner of this game will have the immediate edge in playoff standings. With only a 9-game schedule, every game in this league counts. From game 1 to game 9 every team will be fighting for playoff position.

BEARS:
Make no mistake, the Cache Valley Bears’ bread will likely be buttered with defense, however, this offense should definitely be good enough to sprinkle a little cinnamon-sugar on their toast.  Bears quarterback, Ryan Harris, may have yet to prove himself at the semi-pro level, but he left nothing to prove at Ricks College, he went on to be listed by Sports Illustrated as a major pick-up by Western Michigan in 2000.  Harris will have perhaps the greatest wide receivers in the league with which to work with, as Norvel Young from UFL MVP has joined the Bears. Joining him will be former Weber State star, Justin DeFour and Anthony Stewart, both of which capable of stretching the field for the strong-armed Harris.  Jake Hall, 6’4, 215-lbs, cut in the same mold as Madison ’s Nate Brown will revive his career that would have been at Weber State had he elected to play collegiate ball.  In the backfield with Harris, the Bears will run David Feafia, from Utah State, Craig Mumford is projected at full back and should help provide some additional running room. If Feafia is not available, the Bears would have to turn no further than either Justin Oswald or Fine Unga, both starters on the defense, but great running backs in their own rights.  The offensive line looks powerful as well.

This defensive line could consist of the following players: Ends: Justin Oswald and Tyler Olsen. Olsen is a two-year starter at Utah State only two years ago.  At defensive tackle, you could see a Feafia family reunion with Vaea, Walter and Amos Feafia and you also have another two-year Aggie Starter in Liua Fonua that the Bears do project to start along the front.  Remember, the Bears are so deep; Walter is able to play offensive line.  Shane Dooley also figures to be in the defensive line mix and can play either defensive tackle or defensive end in what will likely be a base 5-2 set. Opposing quarterback just shouldn’t count on having a lot of time to throw against this group, no matter who is on the field.  The linebackers look to be just as good.  Joining former Rhino-Raider standout, Mike Pierce (MB), will be a pair of ex-Aggies in Matt Wiser, who lead the Aggies in tackles AND sacks in 2005 and D.J. Bookster who also played for the Aggies last season. Look for Sean Healy, Andrea Bala, Mike Cowley, and long time veteran Fine Unga in the secondary. (Excerpts from RMFL AAA Team Preview)

WOLVERINES:
The Wolverines are coming off of a win against expansion team the Utah Heat 17-0. With that win the Wolverines are 1-0 just like the Bears, with such a short season at hand the Wolverines need to find a way to win every game they can. The Wolverine Offense is still lead by QB Steve Waelty (17 of 32 for 174yds and 1TD) who will look to guide the Wolverines to another win this week over the heavily favored Bears. Including his usual receivers of Ashby, Neslen, Seely, and Shulze, Steve will also have Dixie State star TJ Stokes who was held out of action last week due to an injury. Also, look for the Wolverines to get their running game on track behind their line who continue to improve every week. Anchoring the line is new Wolverine Jay Olson who last year played for the Pocatello Predators. Running backs Davis, Edwards, Makalo all look to get on track against the Bears, but they will have their work cut out for them as will the O-Line. The Bears arguably have the best Defensive Line in the RMFL. This one will be a fight one in the trenches.

Defensively Wolverine All-Star LB Matt Shoda made his debut on the season and not one to disappoint Shoda lead the Wolverine in tackles (6) and Sacks (2). Shoda after sitting out the Preseason game was again joined by newcomer Bron Cruz, who is beginning to establish himself with the first defense and Josh Smith, who basically can play anywhere on the field. Not to be out done by their Bear's counterparts the Wolverine defensive line are not as high on the radar as the Bears are, but they are plenty capable of leading the Wolverines to an upset behind Samiu Tuitucou, George Liti, Thomas Benjamin, Joe Paschall, Jeff Wheeler, and Sam Steele. Both Dave Barrett and Andrew Butler also recorded sacks against the Heat. The defensive secondary was also impressive in their game against the Heat, Jeremy Smith is always dangerous but it was former Dixie State star Dee McCormick who was able to shut down the Heat receivers along with Dustin McCammon and Chris Marchetti. They will have their hands full this week against the well tuned Heat. Finally Bryson Hayward made his second int in as many games, and Kicker Josh Clark continues to shine in the kicking department. Kickoff is set for 6:00pm at Logan High, get there early as this one is going to be the match up of the week.

April 12 , 2006
WOLVERINES vs. HEAT GAME PREVIEW
(DRAPER, UT) - The Wolverines open the 2006 at home this weekend at beautiful Soaring Eagle Stadium against the Utah HEAT. The Heat come into this game as a new inductee into the RMFL AAA division. Although the Heat are a new team their players are seasoned veterans of the RMFL and former UFL. The Heat is compromised mostly of players who last season played with the Utah Blitz. This season, the Heat Coached by Steve Lilly and Managed by Mike Hinds come into this season on their own terms.

HEAT:
Offensively the Heat will come out and pound the ball behind their mammoth offensive line and powerful running backs. During the times the Heat chooses to pass they will do it behind veteran QB Adam Cunningham, who is considered one of the better QB's in the league. Adam's favorite target will be Jay Fletcher the fomer Wasatch Wildcat standout. Jay is another player who is well known in the league and a former UFL league MVP. Jay will also spend time on defense at CB. Look for the Heat to establish the run early behind a power run game. They will look to pass and will take what the defense gives them.

Defensively the Heat run a modified 4-2 defense. They are lead by ALL-RMFL LB Suka Ahio and many other stalwarts from former Blitz to former Warriors players from years past. The Heat will blitz earlier and often and will try to dictate the Wolverine offensive game plan with their play. They will look to control the game by intimidation and brute strength. This will be a true test of the Wolverines heart and mental toughness.

WOLVERINES:
The Wolverines on the other hand have a preseason game under their belt coming into their season opener after a positive 39-13 win over the AA Scorpions. The Wolverine offense will look to control the game with both the run with one of the many great backs (See Wolverine Preview) they have or with the passing game behind the arm of QB Steve Wealty. Steve will need to take charge of this game from the first possession. The Heat are very strong defensively and will look to intimidate Steve and the rest of the offense into mistakes. The Wolverines have the advantage here if they can get their passing game on track, but if not it could be a long day for the Wolverine offense.

Defensively the Wolverines have established themselves as one of the top defensive units in the league and they won't get any breaks this game. With the Heat coming into overpower the Wolverines;, the Defense is going to have to step up from the opening kickoff. The DL and Linebackers are going to have to play hard for a solid 60 minutes with no let up if they want to keep the Heat out of the end zone.

The Wolverine return to the field after defeating the AA Scorpions 39-13, but make no mistake, the HEAT are not the Scorpions and they will not go down without a fight. This is matching up to be a defensive battle between these two teams, look for a low scoring match with the winner being the team who has the big play and least amount of turnovers. This one is going to be hard hitting football at its best and you don't want to miss it.

Scorpion Game Stats Updated

March 27, 2006
WOLVERINES DEFEAT SCORPIONS 39 - 13
(PRICE, UT) - The Wolverines traveled to Price, UT to take on the Colorado Scorpions in preseason action. This was the first ever meeting between the two teams. This game was a good start for both teams; the Scorpions fought hard the entire game and never gave up.  Look for the Scorpions to surprise the rest of AA this season.  The only thing they have going against them is the traveling they’ll have to do this season.  If they can win all their games at home and one or two on the road, they will be a solid playoff team.

The Wolverine offense showed glimpses of brilliance followed by episodes of disarray. This is why preseason games are played, to work out the kinks and improve for the regular season. The Wolverines offensive production has vastly improved from their home opener a year ago. Head Coach Anthony Jefferies and Offensive Play caller Eric Drage had the Wolverines moving the ball up and down the field, but on four occasions the Wolverines offense was not able to get a TD when they were in the opponent’s red zone, having to settle for field goals instead. Had those been TD's this game would have been a blow out. That will serve as another area of improvement before the first game.

One of the bright spots on the day was special teams.  The Wolverines didn’t realize until this first game what a contribution special teams would have on this game.  Newly acquired Punter and Kicker Josh Clark kept the Wolverines in the game with 4 field goals; on top of that Josh punted the ball for an average of 40 + yards.

The Wolverine defense came out fighting early, putting a lot of pressure on Scorpion QB Mike Christensen who was sacked numerous times on the day and threw one int. Just like the offense the Wolverine defense has room to improve as well.  Fine tuning as well as personnel changes will take place prior to the first regular season game against the HEAT.  The Wolverines are very deep on both sides of the ball and will make the necessary adjustments to improve prior to the season opener.

The Wolverines would like to thank all the fans that showed up, the Colorado Scorpions for making the trip, the Carbon High School Booster Club for holding the game, and Carbon High Head Football Coach J.P. Salisbury for making this happen. I would expect more games to be held in Price in the future.

Wolverines to Play Colorado Scorpions March 25th, in Price, UT
(Draper, UT) - The Utah Wolverines have completed negotiations with Carbon High School Head Football Coach J.P. Salisbury to hold a preseason game on March 25, 2006 against the Colorado Scorpions in Price, Utah (Carbon High School). This game has been in the works since the RMFL league meeting in February. Mike Christensen from the Scorpions and Ed Cerise of the Wolverines have been talking almost daily to work this game out. Now that the field has been confirmed look for football to played in Price this Spring.

Price was chosen for a few reasons, one it serves as mid point travel wise for both teams. Secondly, Owner/General Manager Ed Cerise grew up in Price and played at Carbon High School in the early '90s. This will be sort of a home coming for Ed. "Price is a great community that will support both the Wolverines and Scorpions.", stated Cerise. This game will serve as a fundraiser for the Carbon High Booster Club. The Wolverines look to begin their run for the championship for the 2006 starting in Price.

The Wolverines would like to thank Head Coach Salisbury and the Carbon High administration for making this happen.

Bear River Drops out of Preseason Game for March 18th.
(Draper, UT ) - The Bear River Rockets recently notified Wolverine's GM, Ed Cerise about their intentions of pulling out of our previously scheduled Preseason game on March 18th. This game was scheduled to also serve as a referees clinic for the upcoming season. Ed Cerise, has contacted various teams throughout the league to attempt to salvage this game. Due to the short notice, other teams have not been able to fill this void at this time. Although, talks are currently going on with other teams, we should be able to provide some answers for everyone by Wednesday the 8th. Check back often as the Wolverines will provide an update as soon as we have confirmation.

In other news, the Wolverines are currently trying to finalize a preseason game between the Colorado Scorpions for the 25th of March. This game would be played in Price, Utah. This would be the second time the Scorpions have traveled to Price, last season they lost to the Wasatch Wildcats. This will also mark the first meeting between the Wolverines and Scorpions. Stay tuned as details are currently being worked out.

WOLVERINES UPGRADE COACHING STAFF, ADD NEW and OLD FACES TO THE FOLD.
(Draper, UT) - If you ask anyone who has attended or been around the Wolverines camp this season the one thing everyone mentions is the quality of players and coaches this 2006 team has. One of the main reasons for the Wolverines early improvements is the Coaching Staff. The Wolverines have made some changes internally as well as brought on some new coaches to get the Wolverines to the next level.

First off, 2005 Wolverine Head Coach, Ed Cerise has stepped down from the coaching duties to focus on being the General Manager of the team. In his place the Wolverines have promoted 2nd year Coach Anthony Jefferies to Head Coach. AJ will continue to call the Wolverines offense as well as provide his focus to the Running Backs and the overall run game of the offense.

Next, Jimmie Pryor who is still Defensive Coordinator now moves into the Assistant Head Coaching spot that AJ previously held last season. Jimmie, who has had his time full with a Defensive squad that currently boasts over 40 players is focusing on how the Wolverines can improve from previous seasons. Sometimes having too much talent can cause problems too, but it is a good problem to have. Jimmie will work closely with the DB's and LB’s this season.

The Wolverines would also like to welcome new Passing Coordinator and QB and WR's Coach, Eric Drage. Yes, that's right the same Eric Drage that was formerly Head Coach of the Wasatch Wildcats and BYU legendary receiver. Expect the Wolverines passing game to now mach up with their vaunted running game this season. With weapons like All Star James Neslen, Kyle Ashby, Roger Shulze moving to TE, Billy Davis and Tigger Edwards at Back. The Wolverine offense has already made huge strides early in camp.

Finally, The Wolverines would like to welcome new Offensive Line Coach Jason Smith. Jason is a former Ricks College Lineman. Jason currently works for the Utah Jazz and will put our lineman through the ringer. With Jason's experience with our type of offense expect the Wolverines offensive line to be greatly improved.

You can learn more about these coaches by clicking here.

WOLVERINES vs. BEAR RIVER ROCKETS (PRESEASON GAME)
(Idaho Falls, ID) - The Management of the Wolverines and Bear River Rockets have tentatively agreed to participate in a preseason game to be held at the Wolverines home field on March 18, 2006. Items such as officials need to be worked out still, but look for each team to use this as measuring stick for the new season. Check back as more information will be updated in the future.

RMFL League Meeting Has Concluded and AAA Schedule Set
(Idaho Falls, ID) - The RMFL 2006 League meeting concluded with the AAA teams being set. There was some items including Player Movement that were addressed as well.

The most compelling item of the meeting was the number of newly voted teams allowed into AAA. This include the surprising move by the RMFL Board to elect the Magic Valley Bulldawgs into the AAA division. What this would have done to the AAA schedule would have meant a complete overhaul of the schedule. This also pushed the AAA teams to 11. After originally voting in total of 11 teams into AAA, the RMFL managing board in a last minute effort decided to vote the Magic Valley Bulldawgs out of AAA and into AA. This was a huge relief for AAA teams as their previously posted schedules will remain the same. Some questioned the fact the Idaho Matadors were voted into AAA but in the end that's where they will play.

The Wolverines would like to welcome all the new teams to the RMFL.
New teams Voted in:
Bitteroot Blaze - AA
Magic Valley Bulldawgs - AA
Cache Valley Bears - AAA
Utah Heat - AAA

WOLVERINES ALREADY AHEAD OF LAST SEASON
(Draper, UT) - After only the second practice of the 2006 RMFL season the Wolverines are already ahead of last season offensively and defensively at the skills positions. "Currently, we are not where we should be depth wise on both the Defensive and Offensive Lines.", stated Ed Cerise. This was also reiterated by Head Coach Anthony Jefferies. The Wolverines need to ad depth to both lines. The skills positions on the other hand are a different story. We have some great talent on both sides of the ball with returning veterans and new players. It's going to be very competitive at each position on this 2006 team.

Wolverine All-American LB Matt Shoda came up with a great idea of providing the team lunch after a hard practice so players can get to know each other. So with contributions from a few guys and thanks to the lovely Jackie Shoda, players were provided a great lunch after practice. These are just some of the small things the Wolverines Organization does for each other, to make people fell at home.

Finally, the Wolverines would like to congratulate Ryan and Heather Bird on their recent wedding on the 3rd. Ryan is a returning SS for the Wolverines in his second year. The Wolverines wish them the best on their new life together.

Should any of these teams not be permitted into the league then the schedule will be revised. Here it is, and based on the division the Wolverines will be in a very tough and competitive South Conference of the AAA division.

FREE or NOT FREE THAT IS THE QUESTION?? (STORY FROM RMFL)

WOLVERINES ENJOY SUCCESSFUL FIRST PRACTICE
(Draper, UT) - In Spite of blistering cold weather the Wolverines had a very successful first practice. There were new faces as well as many veteran players on the field as the 2006 RMFL season got under way. With the addition of new coaches and new players there was a tremendous amount of talent on the field. Wolverine Coaches and Management are very pleased with the talent and look forward to a successful season.

Wolverine First Practice January 28
(Draper, UT)The Wolverines will pass on the normal team meeting and combine and move directly into practice. "Last season we spent a lot of time and effort putting together the Combine and Team meeting, but the turnout was not worth the effort involved.", stated Wolverine Owner Ed Cerise. Our numbers were higher once practices started. We will still provide the same information as in our meetings it will just be through a series of emails or at the completion of practices.

With the change in date for the RMFL league meeting the Wolverines have decided to move up the first practice to January 28, 2006. The time and location will be updated shortly. With the mild winter we are having we will most likely end up practicing at Juan Diego. If we do then I would expect the time to be earlier in the day, that way players will still have the time to spend with their families in the evenings. If the weather doesn't cooperate then we will hold practice at the UofU as in past years.

"I expect the Wolverines to be very competitive again this season. We have added some key players as well as coaching staff." "With the addition of this personnel, the Wolverines goal will be to be RMFL Champions.", stated Cerise. Cerise also stated, "Anything less than being in the RMFL Championship will be a dissappointment." It has always been the goal of the Wolverines to compete with the best in the RMFL as well as the country, while at the same time providing a positive environment for our players and their families. "So fare we have fallen short of our goals, I'm confident this season the Wolverines have a shot at being RMFL Champions." The Wolverines aren't necessarily worried about the the juggernauts in this league as we are about ourselves. If the Wolverines perform to their capabilities then we will be successful in our goals.

THANK YOU FANS: The Wolverines would like to thank all the fans in attendance for their support and for the donations for the Utah Food Bank during the 2005 RMFL Season. The Wolverines were able to collect over 500lbs of food for the Utah Food Bank this week. The Wolverines want to thank everyone in attendance, as well as Juan Diego High School for their support, Mike and Ken Dillon who did a fantastic job announcing.

CONGRATULATIONS-Matt Shoda (LB) & Andrew Butler (DE) for being named as 2nd team All-Americans for the Western Region by Minor League Football News
